YOUNG/JUNKER

Johannes Mikel Junker - Michael Juncker arrived in Philadelphia 11 Aug 1750 aboard the Patience from Rotterdam and Cowes. Michael Yonker was a scout sent on alarm about the Indians, April 1759, in Rowan Co, NC. He and his wife Anna Eva appear in the records of Leonard's Reformed Church in Rowan Co. as early as 1757. He was naturalized in Rowan Co, 22 Sept 1762. His land was on Abbott's Creek and Pounder's Fork in the German Settlement of Rowan County, and died in 1792. Two known children

Jacob Young (c.1750-c.1823) married about 1780 Magdalena "Molly" Burkhart (c.1755 - after 1823), daughter of George Burkhart (will 1805) and his wife Catherine, of Rowan Co, NC. Jacob and Michael were permitted to sign the Oath of Allegiance in Rowan Co, NC, 7 August 1778. Jacob received land in Rowan Co, NC, from his father, Michael Younger,1787, and sold it November, 1808, and moved to Washington County, Indiana, entering land there in 1813. Jacob lived in Washington County, where his will was made 16 May 1816 and proved 17 Mar 1823, naming his wife Magdalen, and children Jacob, Frederick (deceased), Elizabeth, Christina, Magdalen, and Anna Maria, and as executors his sons-in-law Philip Shoultz and John Becker (sic).

A different Jacob Young lived in Harrison County. An unconfirmed source says he was born 29 Mar 1757 in Frederick County, Maryland, and married 23 Mar 1784 Phroinca Fredrich. His children were born in Frederick County, Maryland.  This Jacob’s will was dated 27 Feb 1815, and proved in Harrison County 24 Oct 1816. His wife was living but unnamed. Seven children were named.

Mary Ann Young
(9 Apr 1798-9 Nov 1868) married about 1815 George Stonecypher (1789-1878) and lived east of Corydon in Harrison County, Indiana.  They are buried in Old Conrad Cemetery.  Mary Ann (or Anna Maria) Young was listed as a catacumen for a school in 1803, Rowan Co, NC.  Since census records state that Mary Stonecipher was born in North Carolina, she has to be the daughter of John Young and Magdalena Burkhart.
