Wood (bapt.10 Nov 1605 at Roydon, Essex) daughter of John Wood (1578-1635) and Jane
(1582-1649) of Hertfordshire. Richard and Mary left England 31 May 1637 and settled in
Quinnipiac, Connecticut (renamed New Haven Apr 1638), and was one of the
founders of Milford in 1639. She was buried 24 Mar 1675. He died before 13 Feb 1684/5.

(12 Jul 1640-Sep 1693) surgeon, married Mar 1667 Phebe Wood (1649-1697), daughter of Jonas
"Oram" Wood (1614-12 Jun 1689) and Elizabeth Strickland (or Conklin)
Jonas lived in Huntington Long Island, and his will mentions surgeons tools;
Epenetus purchased land at Huntington, 24 Feb 1665/6. In 1673, after the
Dutch recaptured New York, he and four other delegates petitioned the Dutch to
not require a pledge of allegiance, but to allow their good behavior to
suffice. The British retook New York in 1674. In 1681, Epenetus, his
brother Isaac, and three others were imprisoned by Gov. Andrus of New York
Colony for attending a meeting of delegates asking "a redress of grievances
under his arbitrary rule." Major Epenetus Platt (14 Apr 1674-1744) married
(1) Hannah Marvin; m.6 May 1703 Elizabeth Smith (c.1678) and lived in Huntington, Long
Island, made Trustee 1699. Member of the Colonial Assembly
1723-1737. Will dated 1742 probated 1745. One source lists Elizabeth
Smith as a daughter of John Rock Smith, but no
evidence is offered; and she is not listed by anyone else among his
