Isaac Ricks was born in England about 1638. He was in Isle of Wight County Virginia by 1682. He was a member of Chuckatuck Monthly Meeting of Quakers, and apparently lived close to their meeting house, as Isaac apparently served as clerk. About 1668, he married Katherine, whose last name is unknown, but possibly Belson, Scott, or Denson. She died 7 Oct 1717, and he died 3 Jan 1723/4. They had 11 children:

Isaac Ricks (17 Dec 1702-1760) married about 1728 Eleanor Johnson, widow of John Bunn, and daughter of James Johnson (1662-1746) m.1692 Mary, of Isle of Wight County, VA. Isaac moved to Chowan Precinct, Albemarle Co, NC, with his brother William before 1720. His land fell into Edgecomb County, including land where the town of Rocky Mount now stands. His will dated 15 Apr 1760 was proved Dec 1760.

John Ricks (1732-will dated 15 Feb 1790 in Nash Co, NC) married (1) Ann Ross, daughter of Callum Ross and Elizabeth Skinner; married 1762 Esther Horn, widow of Andrew Ross, and daughter of Henry Horn and Ann Purcell; married about 1776 Mary Denson (not Horton) daughter of Benjamin Denson. Their land in Edgecomb County, NC, fell into Nash County in 1777. Order of children, and which children belong to which mother, is unknown.

John Ricks (1769/75-bef.Sep 1838), sometimes called John Cyr Ricks, married about 1800 Catherine (1776NC-after 1850) whose last name was possibly Stedman or Thompson. John and his brother Johannon moved to Georgia, then to Louisiana, settling in the area of St Helena Parish. I have not seen definitive proof that John and Johannon of Louisiana are the sons of John Ricks (d.1790) of North Carolina, but seems likely. John and Catherine had 5 children:
