The Adam Chart |
|
Since we are all descended from Adam and Eve, it is the theoretical goal of all genealogists to prove how. But when records do not exist and legend takes over, real proof is impossible. This, like all Adam Charts, is presented "for entertainment purposes" only, and is NOT to be taken as proven fact. Most genealogists avoid the issue entirely. The basis of this genealogy is the legend that Joseph of Aramathea (1) was the uncle of Mary, (2) was a merchant who frequently sailed to England - one version claims that the young Jesus accompanied him once to study among the Druids, (3) that Joseph settled in what is now Gloucestershire, bringing with him the chalice used at the Last Supper, the "Holy Grail" sought by King Arthur, and (4) that his granddaughter married King Lear of Siluria. Additional problems arise some seven generations later, when we encounter Woden, king of the gods in Anglo-Saxon, German (Wotan) and Norse (Odin) mythology. But from Faramund (#85) to Walter Thornburg (#132), the chart uses traditional genealogies. And while "unproven," it may be considered reasonably accurate in that range. (See Thornborough) |
